Pennsville Police arrest Carneys Point man while “en-route” of weapon’s sale in Salem

Authorities arrest Christopher Chard of Carneys Point after being tipped off he was allegedly “en-route” to make a sale of an handgun

Pennsville Twp. – Christopher L. Chard, 32-years-old of Carneys Point, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on Feb. 26, 2016. Police received information that Chard was en route to Salem City to sell the¬†handgun. The gun was in Chard’s¬†direct possession, and the passenger, Abimael Ortiz (M/31) of Woodstown, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

On 2/26/16 at approximately 8:25 PM Christopher Chard (M/32) of Carneys Point, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon following a motor vehicle stop on North Hook Road. Also arrested was passenger Abimael Ortiz (M/31) of Woodstown for an outstanding warrant. Police received information that Chard was en route to Salem City to sell the handgun to an unknown subject.

Once the vehicle was stopped Chard was removed from the vehicle and discovered to have the gun on his person.

Both subjects were transported to headquarters and processed. Christopher Chard was remanded to the Salem County Correctional Facility in default of $75,000.00 bail and Ortiz was released after posting bail. Pending Court.
