Carneys Point Police Log includes multiple MVC hit & run’s, thefts and more

Carneys Point Twp. – Police are investigating separate reports of vehicles damaged, multiple cases of motor vehicle hit and run’s, multiple cases of theft, reports of marijuana being smoked in buses at YMCA, a stolen credit card with charges totaling over $5,700, and more according to most recent police crime log for November 2 to November 7, 2015.

On November 7, 2015 at 6:40 PM, officers were dispatched to Stubini’s Tavern for a criminal mischief complaint. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown subject(s) smashed a window out of the victim’s vehicle. Nothing was reported missing. There are no suspects at this time.

On November 7, 2015 at 10:24 AM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Route 40 and Harding Highway for a motor vehicle accident.

On November 7, 2015 at 2:35 Am, officers were dispatched to South Golfwood Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Thomas J. Friant, 20 years of age from Pennsville, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Friant was transported to headquarters, processed and released per John’s Law guidelines.

On November 6, 2015 at 9:45 PM, officers were flagged down by a subject on Merion Avenue. The subject reported that someone kicked the rear of his/her vehicle causing damage. The victim stated earlier in the day, he/she had words with a group of juveniles in the area and suspected they were possibly responsible for the damage. This matter is still under investigation.

On November 6, 2015 at 8:59 PM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hawks Bridge Road and Route 130 for a hit and run motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a purple vehicle struck another vehicle and fled the area traveling north on Route 130. A search of the area yielded negative findings for the vehicle.

On November 6, 2015 at 12:17 PM, officers were dispatched to Shell Road in the area of Springfield Avenue for a motor vehicle accident.

On November 6, 2015 at 11:31 AM, a Carneys Point resident responded to headquarters to report a theft. The victim reported that an unknown subject(s) used his/her credit card fifteen times totaling $5,756.31. The victim stated some of the transactions were made outside of the United States. This matter is still under investigation.

On November 6, 2015 at 11:22 AM, officers were dispatched to the Flying J Truck Stop for a hit and run motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unoccupied tractor trailer was struck while parked at the fuel pumps. The driver returned to the vehicle and discovered the damage. The vehicle that struck the tractor fled the scene and there were no witnesses.

On November 6, 2015 at 9:28 AM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Sportsman Road for a theft complaint. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a subject(s) stole a GPS unit, valued at $399, from the caller’s work vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the caller’s driveway. There were no signs of forced entry or damage to the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.

On November 5, 2015 at 5:23 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of the Roman Pantry for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the operator of a commercial vehicle parked across the street from the Roman Pantry and was struck by a car while attempting to cross Harding Highway. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to The Memorial Hospital of Salem County for head and upper body injuries. The pedestrian was later transported to Cooper Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. No charges or traffic summonses are expected to be filed at this time.

On November 5, 2015 at 4:38 PM, officers were dispatched to Route 40 eastbound for a hit and run motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a tractor trailer struck the front of a vehicle in passing and did not stop. The operator of the vehicle followed the tractor trailer in an attempt to identify the company or get a registration, but the operator was unsuccessful. The search of the area yielded negative results for the tractor trailer. No injuries were reported.

On November 5, 2015 at 1:34 PM, a subject brought a black polka dot purse to headquarters that was found on Shell Road in the area of the Fulton Bank. The purse was secured at headquarters until the owner could be located.

On November 4, 2015 at 8:54 PM, officers were dispatched to Harding Highway, in the area of the Penns Grove High School, for a single vehicle accident involving a deer.

On November 3, 2015 at 7:00 PM, during a warrant service, Candace Pedrick, 35 years of age from Carneys Point, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of the Carneys Point Municipal Court. Pedrick was transported to headquarters, processed and released after posting partial bail.

On November 3, 2015 at 1:57 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence on South Miller Avenue for a burglary. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a subject(s) entered the basement of the residence and removed copper pipes, valued at $2,500. There are no suspects at this time.

On November 3, 2015 at 1:35 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Wintergreen Lane for a theft. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim left a Samsung Tablet, valued a $300, on the hood of his/her vehicle and briefly walked away. When the victim returned back to the vehicle the tablet was gone. There are no suspects at this time.

On November 2, 2015 at 6:16 AM, officers were dispatched to the Y.M.C.A. parking lot for a motor vehicle complaint. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a subject(s) entered a school bus over the weekend and officers found evidence of marijuana use inside of the bus. Nothing was reported damaged or missing by the driver. There are no suspects at this time.
