“A visit with Thomas Edison – The Wizard of Menlo Park” will be held on Friday, January 20 at 4 p.m. at Salem Community College.
This family-friendly, free event is sponsored by the SCC Bookmobile Library and produced by the American Historical Theatre. The program will be held in Donaghay Hall, Room 106 (adjacent to the Student Union), on Salem Community College’s campus at 460 Hollywood Ave. Guests should park in Lot D.
The living-history program will feature Bob Gleason as Edison. Since 1980, Gleason has presented programs featuring nearly 150 historical figures, stretching over 2000 years of history, according to American Historical Theatre.
Edison – the American inventor, scientist and businessman — developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb, noted American Historical Theatre. Edison is also remembered as brilliant business pioneer who laid the path for today’s General Electric.
Funding for the program is provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts through Salem County Board of Freeholders and Salem County Culture and Heritage Commission.
