On January 1, 2017 at 8:16 PM, officers were dispatched to the Pilot Truck Stop for a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot.

On January 1, 2017 at 5:17 PM, officers were dispatched to Central School House Lane for a four wheeler accident.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that the operator, Samuel DiGregorio 3rd, 26 years of age from Carneys Point, was riding the four wheeler without a helmet and struck a utility pole.  Digregorio was pronounced dead at scene.

On January 1, 2017 at 8:51 AM, officers were dispatched to Howard Street for two subjects attempting to enter vehicles.  Upon arrival, officers encountered Booker Ricks 4th, 18 years of age from Penns Grove, and a juvenile.  Officers investigated the allegations and discovered Ricks and the juvenile did in fact enter a vehicle, but the owner did not report anything missing.  Ricks was charged on a summons with criminal trespassing and the juvenile was charged on a juvenile complaint with criminal trespassing.  The juvenile’s legal guardian was contacted.  Both subjects were processed and released to the Penns Grove Police Department for vehicle burglaries that occurred in their jurisdiction.

On December 31, 2016 at 11:20 PM, officers went to the Friendship Motor Lodge to look for a robbery suspect who robbed the Pioneer Gas station in Carneys Point on December 18, 2016 with a knife, the Sunoco Gas Station on Hawks Bridge Road on December 23, 2016 with a knife, an attempted robbery at the Gulf Gas Station in Carneys Point on December 23, 2016 and robbed the Sunoco Gas Station on Hawks Bridge Road on December 28, 2016.  Upon arrival, officers arrested Matthew Powers, 27 years of age from Pennsville.  Powers was transported to headquarters, charged on a warrant with three counts of robbery, attempted robbery, three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, three counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, four counts of criminal trespass, four counts of simple assault and three counts of theft.  Powers was also charged with robbery by the West Deptford Police Department for a robbery that occurred at a gas station in West Deptford Township on December 21, 2016.  Powers was processed and lodged at the Salem County Correctional Facility on a no bail warrant.

On December 31, 2016 at 7:10 PM, officers were dispatched to the Red Carpet Inn for a party.  Upon arrival, a 16 year old juvenile was found to have an outstanding warrant for his/her arrest out of the Salem County Family Court.  The juvenile was transported to headquarters, processed and lodged at Ranch Hope.

On December 31, 2016 at 1:56 AM, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Hollywood Avenue in the area of Springfield Avenue.  Upon arrival, Arthur Armstead Jr, 45 years of age from Salem, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.  Armstead was transported to headquarters, processed and released per John’s Law guidelines.

On December 30, 2016 at 2:54 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Tayshon Hayward, 24 years from Penns Grove, was arrested for possession of marijuana under fifty grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to deliver CDS to the nearest Law Enforcement Officer; and Montaya Marshall, 21 years of age from Carneys Point, was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of the Carneys Point Municipal Court.  Hayward and Marshall were transported to headquarters.  Hayward was charged on a summons, processed and released pending court.  Marshall was processed and released with a new court date.
