Recent Carneys Point Crime Log includes thefts, burglaries, possession of CDS, distribution of CDS, DUI, motor vehicle collisions, vehicle burglaries and more.

Carenys Point Crime Log for the time period of November 30 through December 11, 2016.

On December 11, 2016 at 3:42 PM, officers were dispatched to the Deepwater Diner for a theft.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim had a cellular phone and charger, valued at $430.00, stolen the night before while at the diner. This matter is still under investigation.

On December 11, 2016 at 12:11 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Penns Grove Auburn Road for a burglary.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that a subject(s) broke into the residence and stole a television, value unknown. This matter is still under investigation.

On December 11, 2016 at 12:28 AM, during a motor vehicle stop, Aaliyah Johnson, 22 years of age from Penns Grove, was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of the Carneys Point Municipal Court. Johnson was transported to headquarters, processed and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility.

On December 10, 2016 at 7:49 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Christopher Torain, 36 years of age from Chester, Pennsylvania, was arrested for possession of prescription legend drugs; and Keith Smith, 32 years of age from Penns Grove, was arrested for distribution of cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana under fifty grams and failure to make lawful disposition to the nearest Law Enforcement Officer. Torain and Smith were transported to headquarters. Torain was charged on a summons, processed and released pending court.  Smith was charged on a warrant, processed and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility.

On December 10, 2016 at 9:21 AM, a Carneys Point resident responded to headquarters to report that his/her identity had been stolen. The victim reported that an unknown person opened an account with Direct T.V. in New Brunswick, New Jersey in his/her name without his/her knowledge or consent. The victim stated the account has an outstanding balance of $875.16. The victim was entered into the National Crime System as a victim of identity theft. This is a matter of record at this time.

On December 9, 2016 at 9:55 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Benjamin Robinson, 52 years of age from Newark, Delaware, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.  Robinson was transported to headquarters, processed and released per John’s Law guidelines.

On December 9, 2016 at 6:43 PM, Carl Hess, 43 years of age from Carneys Point, turned himself in on warrants out of Camden City Municipal Court, West Deptford Municipal Court, Trenton Municipal Court and the Carneys Point Municipal Court. Hess was processed and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility.

On December 8, 2016 at 7:45 AM, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Route 40 eastbound in the area of Sportsmans Road. No injuries were reported at the scene.

On December 7, 2016 at 4:07 PM, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Hollywood Avenue at the intersection of Shell Road. No injuries were reported at the scene.

On December 7, 2016 at 3:51 PM, officers were dispatched to the Rivers Bend Apartments for a trespassing complaint.  Upon arrival, Joshua Friebel, 24 years of age from Pennsville, was arrested for defiant trespassing. Friebel was transported to headquarters, charged on a summons, processed and later released.

On December 7, 2016 at 12:51 PM, officers were dispatched to the Flying J for a shoplifting complaint.  Upon arrival, officers discovered that a white male and a white female stole a sweatshirt, valued at $19.99, and they fled the area prior to officers’ arrival in a Silver Kia Sorento. Officers identified Edwin Niblock 3rd, 30 years of age from Salem, as the white male. Attempts to locate Niblock were negative. Officers issued a summons to Niblock for shoplifting and mailed the summons.  The identity of the female is unknown at this time.

  • On December 12, 2016, Edwin Niblock 3rd responded to headquarters in regards to the shoplifting summons.  Officers spoke with Niblock and determined that he was in fact not the suspect.  It was determined that Niblock was misidentified and the summons was dismissed.  This matter is still under investigation.

On December 7, 2016 at 10:31 AM, officers were dispatched to Penns Grove Auburn Road for a single vehicle accident involving a deer.

On December 7, 2016 at 7:04 AM, officers were dispatched to North Pennsville Auburn Road for a single vehicle accident involving a deer.

On December 6, 2016 at 3:30 PM, officers were dispatched to Route 130 in the area of Springfield Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. Three occupants in one vehicle complained of pain, refused medical attention at the scene and stated they were driving themselves to the hospital.

On December 6, 2016 at 3:07 PM, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Route 40 westbound. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the operator was going around a curve and drove the vehicle off of the roadway. No injuries were reported at the scene.

On December 5, 2016 at 6:54 PM, officers were dispatched to Cedar Street for a robbery. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim was walking down Cedar Street when a subject approached him/her from behind, punched him/her in the back of the head and demanded money. The suspect, described as a light skinned black male, having short hair and a black bear, wearing a gray or black hoodie and dark pants, threw the victim on the ground and continued punching him/her.  The suspect attempted to go into the victim’s pockets and was than scared away by a passerby. The suspect fled on foot towards Bianca Avenue.  The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene. This matter is still under investigation.

On December 5, 2016 at 9:55 AM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Johnson Avenue for a criminal mischief complaint. Upon arrival, it was discovered that two juveniles damaged the victim’s fence in mid-October and the victim gave the families a quote to have the fence fixed. As of this date the fence has not been fixed. The victim wished to pursue charges against the juveniles at this time. Both juveniles were charged on juvenile complaints with criminal mischief.  The complaints were given to the juvenile’s legal guardians. This matter is pending juvenile court.

On December 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Central School House Lane for a burglary complaint. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown subject(s) entered the victim’s residence, stole a wallet and stole $1,900 in U.S. currency. This matter is still under investigation.

On December 2, 2016 at 1:11 AM, during a motor vehicle stop, Brittany Ross, 26 years of age from Penns Grove, was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of the Carneys Point Municipal Court. Ross was transported to headquarters, processed and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility.

On December 2, 2016 at 7:33 AM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Marsden Avenue for a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a subject(s) entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole approximately $5.00 in loose change.  No other items were reported missing by the victim. This matter is still under investigation.

On December 2, 2016 at 10:56 AM, officers were dispatched to a residence on North Norman Avenue for a vehicle burglary.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that a subject(s) entered three vehicles on the property that were unlocked and stole approximately $80.00 in loose change. No other items were reported missing by the victim. This matter is still under investigation.

On December 2, 2016 at 2:27 PM, a Carneys Point resident responded to headquarters to report a fraudulent account had been opened in his/her name with South Jersey Gas. The victim received a bill from South Jersey Gas in the amount of $100.00 for a residence in Millville. The victim was entered in the National Crime System as being a victim of identity theft. This matter was forwarded to South Jersey Gas.

On December 2, 2016 at 5:28 PM, officers were dispatched to North Golfwood Avenue for a single vehicle accident involving a deer.

On December 2, 2016 at 5:37 PM, officers were dispatched to the intersection Route 40 and Hawks Bridge Road for a motor vehicle accident.  No injuries were reported at the scene.

On December 2, 2016 at 6:58 PM, for a hit and run motor vehicle accident on the Route 40 westbound off ramp onto Hawks Bridge Road. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a tractor trailer that was stopped at the stop sign, drifted backwards and struck a vehicle behind it. The tractor trailer fled the scene. A search of the area yielded negative findings for the tractor trailer.  No injuries were reported at the scene.

On November 30, 2016 at 12:47 AM, officers were dispatched Lanning Avenue for a suspicious person complaint. Upon arrival, officers encountered Davon Davis, 19 years of age from Penns Grove, and a juvenile. Officers questioned the two subjects regarding the vehicle burglaries in the area. Davis was found to be in possession of items taken from a vehicle burglary on November 25, 2016. The two subjects were transported to headquarters.  The juvenile was found to have no involvement with the vehicle burglaries. Davis was charged on a summons with burglary and theft for the vehicle burglary on November 25, 2016.  Davis was processed and released pending court. The juvenile was released to his/her legal guardian.
