PV annual Christmas Open House Tours to be held on Sundays beginning December 4th

Christmas Open House Tours by the Pennsville Twp. Historical Society will begin tomorrow Sunday December 4th at their Church Landing Farm House Museum

PENNSVILLE TWP. – The Pennsville Township Historical Society is pleased to invite the public to visit the Church Landing Farm House Museum for their annual Christmas Open House Tours during the first three Sundays of December 2016. The Christmas Open House Tours at the museum on Church Landing Road will begin tomorrow December 4th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will be followed by tours on Dec. 11th, and Dec. 18th. Visitors will see beautiful Christmas decorations, exhibits, and demonstrations, and have opportunity to enjoy live entertainment and be treated to traditional Christmas refreshments and traditional Swedish Wassail.

Each Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., visitors can listen as Marlena Robinson sings Christmas Songs in the parlor, after which, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., visitors will want to gather around the Pump Organ to enjoy traditional Christmas music played by organists Nancy Bubeck, Harlan Buzby, and Kathy Bodine.

Throughout each day, our Junior Historians will be re-enacting a Christmas Tea Party reminiscent of the early 1900’s in one of the second floor bedrooms. In the other bedroom, there will be a historian portraying a Swedish “time traveler” from the early 1600’s telling about the arrival of the Swedes and Finns in Lower Penn’s Neck. Also, the historian will artfully tell visitors about the Swedish legend of Sankta Lucia along with her crown of candles.

The Townsend Annex has, also, been decorated and will be open to visitors. Skillful weavers Annette Devitt (Dec. 4th and 18th) and Marcia Walton (Dec. 11th) will be demonstrating the weaving process on a circa 1910 Finnish Loom. Tom Githens will be operating and showcasing his model train while telling visitors about the scale model carriages he skillfully crafted.

The gift shop will also be open during the Christmas Open Houses. The Pennsville Township Historical Society still has Christmas ornaments and other items available for purchase as well. Bring the family and stop by the Pennsville Township Historical Society’s Christmas Open House Tours.

The Church Landing Farm Museum is located at 86 Church Landing Road in Pennsville, N.J.
