Pennsville Police Arrest Alleged Gas Thief

PENNSVILLE – On 6/3/14 at approximately 5:30 pm Desmond L. Elliott (M/19) of Wilmington, De., was arrested and charged with one (1) count of Robbery, Theft and Simple Assault.

On 5/31/14 at approximately 8:00 pm the accused pulled in to the Exxon Gas Station on North Broadway and requested $15.00 worth of gas. When the employee approached Elliott he handed him a debit card that was rejected. The employee requested that Elliott go across the street and remove cash from the ATM machine to pay for the gas. Elliott pushed the employee and reached under his seat and advised that he had a gun. The employee backed away and Elliott drove away.

It was believed that this subject has obtained gas and left without paying in the past. Once Police arrived, they were provided with a license plate number and entered same into the NCIC system. Wilmington Police located the vehicle on June 1st and were able to provide pertinent information that led to the arrest of Elliott. Once processed, Elliott was remanded to the Salem County Correctional Facility in default of $10,000.00 bail.
