Carneys Point – Philabundace announced today that a new location has been found for the Fresh For All program. The new site location will be at St. Gabriel Parish Center, 350 Georgetown Road in Carneys Point (across from Corpus Christi Church) and will begin distribution on Wednesday, June 25th from 10:30-11:30am.
Penns Grove Fresh For All is a program that provides food to approximately 150 households each week. In 2013, the site provided 166,900 pounds of produce to people in need in Salem County. Nearly 80 percent of households served through Fresh For All in Penns Grove have an annual house hold income at or below the poverty line. According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap, nearly 14 percent of households in Salem County are food insecure, meaning they may not know where their next meal is coming from.
Philabundance operates 10 Fresh For All sites in low-income neighborhoods that lack access to food resources, especially fresh produce. Like a traveling farmer’s market, Fresh For All returns to the same location each week on the same day with a truck full of fresh produce and bakery products for distribution, free-of-charge, to individuals registered with the program. Fresh For All distributed 2.2 million pounds of in fiscal year 2013.
