Carneys Point Police releases recent activity

CARNEYS POINT – Recent Carneys Point Police activity released.

On April 14, 2014 at 9:11 AM, Officers were dispatched to the bus stop in front of Healthcare Commons for a male and female engaged in a verbal argument. Upon arrival it was discovered that Lashonda Justice tipped over a trash can and threw a brick through the bus stop glass window. Justice was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. Justice was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summons.

On April 14, 2014 at 12:15 PM, a local Insurance agency reported that a subject purchased insurance using a check that was drawn on a closed bank account. This matter is still under investigation at this time.

On April 14, 2014 at 1:17 PM, a local business contacted the Carneys Point Police Department to report they were scammed out of $325.86. The local business received a phone call approximately two weeks ago from a subject stating that their electric account was delinquent. The caller requested that the business use a prepaid credit card to pay the delinquent bill, giving the explanation that the prepaid cards process faster. The local business complied and then received a letter from the Electric Company stating that the account was delinquent. AT this time the business owner discovered that they were scammed. This matter is still under investigation at this time.

On April 14, 2014 at 4:02 PM, Nichelle Booker was arrested for driving while suspended. The vehicle was going to be turned over to the passenger as long as the passenger had a valid driver’s license. The passenger identified herself with a fictitious name and eventually gave her true identity of Deja Lewis. Lewis was arrested for hindering her own apprehension. Lewis stated she knew her license was suspended and thought she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Booker and Lewis were transported to headquarters, where they were processed and released on summonses.

On April 15, 2014 at 12:47 PM, David Gray Jr. was arrested for driving while suspended. Gray was transported to headquarters, where he was processed and released on a summons.

On April 15, 2014 at 1:34 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Penns Grove High School for a baggie containing suspected marijuana that was discovered on the floor of a classroom.
