How do you pick your Real Estate Agent?

Almost weekly, I hear horror stories from clients that listed their homes with another real estate agent.  I always ask how did they choose their last agent?  Answers usually range from it’s our relative, friend, a co-worker who is also an agent, a friend told me they used this agent, or even I called a real estate office and talked to one on the phone.

Homes are one of the biggest investments that we make in our lifetime and this investment should not be trusted with just anyone.  There are 3 things that sell homes.  Marketing, price, and location.   I recommend to always interview agents and then make a decision on who has the best marketing plan and track record.  Better marketing usually draws more buyers and higher prices.   Whatever you do, do not select an agent just because they tell you they can get you a higher price.  Actually delivering that higher price rarely occurs.

Pick the agent that makes the most sense.
