Civil War Cannon Unveiling and Dedication Scheduled for Tomorrow (Oct. 30th)

Salem County will hold an unveiling and dedication of the Civil War Cannon which is located in front of the Old Courthouse at 83 Market Street in Salem City.

The ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30 at the Old Courthouse.  The county will recognize the individuals and organizations who provided the funds, manpower and resources for the restoration.

The bronze cannon, which was forged in Naples Italy in 1763,  came to Salem County during the civil war and is being be returned to its permanent home in front of the County Courthouse.

The cannon was removed from the courthouse in 2012 because of deterioration and underwent restoration.
